Halal KFC is not Halal enough claims council of mosques

A council of mosques has stated KFC chicken ‘cannot be termed Halal’ even though it is. Members of Lancashire Council of Mosques met with representatives of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) this week after concerns were raised about the restaurant’s Halal status.

With an estimated five million Muslims, France has the biggest Islamic population in Europe. They've been in the country for decades, but the mainstream food industry is only just starting to cater to them. France is also the most visited country in the world with 75 million foreign tourists per year, and maintains the third largest income in the world from tourism.

Ooh la la! Halal food is the new big thing

Few things define the traditional good life in France better than champagne and foie gras but few would have thought them symbols of social integration - until now. A boom in sales of Halal goods, including alcohol-free bubbly and goose liver pate approved by Islamic law, is being driven by the emergence of an affluent middle class of young Muslims.

KFC face Halal Muslim boycott threat

Things are not lickin' good for KFC in their bid to sell fried chicken to Islamic customers. They're now being threatened with a boycott by both Muslims AND non-Muslims.

Saudi-Luxembourg cooperation in Islamic finance

The signing in Alkhobar of a strategic cooperation and alliance agreement between Saudi Arabia's Mohammed Hamad Al-Soaib Law Firm and the Luxembourg-based Lux Global Trust Services and Theisen Advocates recently is set to increase the use of the Duchy as a trust and tax domicile for Saudi investment products; investment vehicles such as special purpose vehicles (SPVs) used in the issuance of Sukuk for instance; and the registration of investment funds, especially for UCITs (Undertakings for Collective Investment Trusts) of which Luxembourg is the world leader.
