Marketplace of Creative Arts goes Regional

On 19 February 2011, the WIEF Foundation, in partnership with the Young Association of Muslim Professionals (YAMP) of Singapore, will be jointly organising its first regional creative arts showcase at the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore. The Marketplace of Creative Arts: Singapore Leg bearing the theme “Bridging Communities Through Arts”, has confirmed 32 of some of the best contemporary artists in Southeast Asia from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Musicians, traditional dancers, filmmakers and visual artists will converge in Singapore in this one-day event of art displays, performances and dialogue sessions.

Terengganu Geared For Further Growth

Terengganu is geared for further economic development with the establishment of Kuala Terengganu City Centre (KTCC) under the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) programme. KTCC will generate investments worth RM3.9 billion, of which RM3.5 billion will be from the private sector. KTCC will help Kuala Terengganu become a vibrant Heritage Waterfront City and an international tourism gateway to the East Coast.

Pakistan: Pakistan seeks halal products market in Middle East

The Pakistan government is drafting a bill to give a better exposure to Pakistan’s exports by fulfilling the requirements of the consumers of trillion dollar halal products and services sector who comprise of one fourth of world’s population. The bill, called “Bill of Halal Certification”, is being prepared by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, or TDAP, in consultation with all stakeholders. Once ready, it would be tabled before the National Assembly to be made a law, Asad Sajjad, Secretary-General and CEO of Pakistan’s newly formed Halal Development Council, or HDC, said in an interview with Khaleej Times during a short visit to Dubai.
