The Compact

With the increasing demand for halal meat, we are pleased to see the introduction of an excellent new idea from a Belgian company, Compact Belgium. The Compact is a mobile slaughtering unit that has been designed under the supervision of Flavio Di Lerno of the United Nations.

The Compact, a new portable slaughtering unit

The Compact is the result of four years of research, and has been made to meet the stringent EC regulations for the slaughtering of sheep, goats, rabbits, ducks and chickens.
It can be set up anywhere as the entire process, including the waste, is self-contained with no environmental impact whatsoever. The Compact is constructed of sturdy galvanized iron and painted with special long life varnish. It is set on two twin wheels and can be moved both by hand and by tractor using the special hook-up.

All equipment and inside walls are made of stainless steel for maximum hygiene. Adjustable supports ensure stability and correct levelling, and there are side openings for ventilation with mosquito nets.

Each fully-lit unit contains a 220 volt stunner; a 1200 watt boiler; a plucking machine; a manual chain unit; a slaughter unit with 2 funnels; a 1,500 watt knife sterilizer, knee level wash basins; work desk; vapour chimney; two 500 litre water tanks (one for fresh water, one for waste). Optional extras include the tractor hook, a 4KW generator and a dry plucking machine.
