Sudan's Minister of Agriculture visits Dubai-based Al Islami Foods
Sudan's Minister for Agriculture and Animal Wealth, recently made an official visit to Al Islami's headquarters in Dubai Investments Park as part of his visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The honourable Mr. Abdul Jabar Hussein Osman, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Wealth of Khartoum State accompanied by leading representatives from Sudan met with Al Islami Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Saleh Abdullah Lootah.
The Gulf is increasingly being considered as the focal hub of Halal food development and logistics, and the visit emphasized the opportunities for trade between the two nations. In particular, Al Islami is considering opportunities for exporting Halal red meat such as beef and mutton to/from the State of Khartoum.
This is the first time that a Minister from Sudan has visited Al Islami, which is expected to enhance collaboration for exporting Halal products to Khartoum and an opportunity for the Agriculture Minister to tour Al Islami's facilities.
Both parties agreed that this was a valuable exchange and Mr. Saleh Abdullah Lootah accepted the Minister's invitation to visit Sudan.
The Halal industry is growing at a rapid pace as the demand for Halal products is increasing worldwide, from Muslims and people of diverse races and religious beliefs.
The size of the global Halal consumer market (food and non-food such as financial services, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics) is estimated at USD 2 trillion, of which the food sector alone is worth USD 400 billion.
