Halal Food Guide Award
KasehDia’s Halal Food Guide series was declared the Best Food Guide in Malaysia by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2004 which is based in Madrid, Spain.
The Gourmand World Food Cookbook Awards are considered to be the 'Oscars' of food and incidentally, wine publishing.
The Halal Food Guide will compete with six other finalists for The Best Guide in the World Award which will be announced in Grythyttan, Province of Orebro, Sweden on February 11, 2005 in the presence of the King of Sweden.
The other six guidebook finalists are Loius Vuitton City Guide 2004- New York 150th Anniversary of Louis Vuitton by Loius Vuitton Malletier-France, A la Carte 2005- Osterreichs by D+R.Verlag-Austria (Germany), La Rioja, Mesas de Calidad y sus Recetas by CRE-COM (Spain), Le Guide des Boulangeries de Paris by Les Editions de l’If (France) and Olive Oil Guide- Olivoljeguiden by Kaibobi (Sweden). Previous winners of the award included the Zagat series.
The event’s president and founder, Edouard Cointreau, described the Halal Food Guide as “very good and deserve good international exposure”.
The guides were spotted at the Frankfurt Book Fair which was held last October.
The Halal Food Guide series now includes Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, London, and Australia with the New Zealand, Canada, Dubai, USA East Coast and Malaysian edition out in 2005. The series is targeted to Muslim travelers, holiday-makers and locals worldwide.
The Gourmand World Food Cookbook Awards were created by Edouard Cointreau in 1995 at the Frankfurt Book Fair. In 2002, over 3,500 books from 60 countries entered the competition.
