The Second World Halal Forum (WHF) 2007 to be held in Kuala Lumpur next May will address the need to consolidate and harmonise ongoing efforts of all players so as to enjoy unified focus and strength of halal commercial applications.
The two-day forum with the theme "Harmonising The Global Halal Market" will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on May 7-8.
WHF chairman Khairy Jamaluddin told a news conference in Kuala Lumpur today that the WHF 2007 will address key topics that will affect the onward development of the entire global halal supply chain.
About 700 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the WHF 2007. Invitees to the forum include heads of states and trade ministers, stakeholders of the halal market as well as international experts from the fields of industry, science and Shariah.
The Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), a wholly owned company of the Ministry of Finance, is hosting the forum while KasehDia Sdn Bhd will manage the forum.
WHF 2007 will kick off with the Halal Malaysia Week starting May 7, 2007. It will be followed by the fourth Malaysian International Halal Showcase (MIHAS), which is also to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
"We view this initiative of Halal Malaysia Week as a strong positive move that reinforces Malaysia's leadership role in the market, and we are confident that the WHF and MIHAS will create formidable combination for years to come" chief executive officer of HDC Datuk Jamil Bidin said.
