WESTPORTS Malaysia has won the inaugural Technology Business Review Award for Excellence in Logistics - Port Services.

The port was recognised and rewarded for embracing technology as a culture and an innovating factor to improve services with customers in mind.

The win is yet another record in the annals of Westports, which has won many international and local accolades in its 12 years of operations.

The win also coincides with Westports' 12th year anniversary celebrations this month.

Westports had previously won awards for being the Best Emerging Container Terminal, Best Public Sector Development, Best Employer, Best Infrastructure Design Award, Best Landscaped Award and the Silver Screen Award for Westports "Millennium" Television commercial.

In receiving the award from business publication, Technology Business Review, Westports executive director Ruben Emir Gnanalingam said the award is testimony of the port's drive to achieve better innovation using new technologies.

"We thank our staff for continuously embracing technology as a way of life. The award reflects the constant hard work and commitment that our skilful staff contribute to ensure efficient and reliable services for our shipping customers.

"Overall, the award acknowledges Westports for being fully a technology park in its own way," said Ruben.

The application of information technology (IT) has played a major role in improving the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of Westports, which has transformed it into a world-class facility.
