Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs are looking forward to promote Halal food in the United States of America and Canada in an attempt to develop the country to become a Halal food centre in the future.

The International Economic Affairs Department, under the Foreign Affairs Ministry, is cooperating with the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) in this Halal food promotional campaign.

Halal Food Standard Institute of Chulalongkorn University, Halal Food Standard Institute and other leading Islamic agencies will check and assure the quality of Halal food to be exported to the US and Canada.

Four MOUs have been signed to enable Halal food to be standardised and can become Thailand’s trademark product. Thus, consumers in the US and Canada would be aware and accept more Halal food.

Although most people in Thailand are not Muslims, this is an effort to build up confidence of Halal food consumers worldwide.
