DIHAS 2006 to bring global industry leaders to Dubai

Sunday, August 27, 2006

vLinx, the first fully integrated eCatalogue - Online Transaction Engine for import and export along with Exhibitions Promotion and Management (M) Sdn Bhd (EXPAM), Malaysia, and Orange Fairs & Events announced that they would boost international trade in Halal products by bringing together top companies under one roof at the Dubai International Halal Show (DIHAS) 2006 to beheld early next month.

vLinx is the main sponsor of the three-day DIHAS 2006, to be held from September 11 to 13 at the Crowne Plaza in Dubai. The prestigious event, the first-of-its-kind in the Middle East will bring together over 80 companies from around the globe, who will display genuine Halal products and services.

Expressing his views on vLinx’s sponsorship of the landmark event, Mr. Sahba Hadipour, Regional Director and Vice-President of vLinx UAE, said: “DIHAS 2006 will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity for companies from all sectors to explore the immense growth potential of the Halal market. From vLinx’s point of view, it provides an auspicious opportunity to officially launch The Halal Global Exchange - the first international e-commerce marketplace dedicated to the Halal industry.

DIHAS 2006 will showcase our ability to bring the efficiency of e-commerce to the global Halal industry and in association with key partners, provide door-to-door management of the entire business transaction.”

In his comments on DIHAS 2006, Mr. Abdul Kabur Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Exhibitions Promotion and Management (M) Sdn Bhd of Malaysia, said: “Halal products are widely recognized for its safety and quality assurance and its consumers comprise not only the 1.8 billion Muslims but also people from diverse races and religious beliefs. The Halal industry is growing at a rapid pace and is widely viewed as a burgeoning business sector with vast growth potential. This exhibition in Dubai will offer a unique opportunity for global companies to interact, build new businesses and strengthen their existing ties.”

He added: “In particular, we are thankful for the support of vLinx for this event. With its expertise and turnkey e-commerce solutions, vLinx has made the task of buying products from far-flung international locations as simple as it is to buy from next door.”

The exhibition profile includes companies from UAE, Malaysia, Korea, Pakistan, Italy, Taiwan, Brunei, Philippines, US and UK, among others, representing all kinds of food and non-food products such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, beauty products, processing equipment, machinery and utensils and Halal services such as Islamic finance, travel, insurance, education etc.

The demand for Halal products are increasing worldwide and not just from Muslims but also from people of diverse races and religious beliefs, thus providing a huge boost to the sector. The size of the global Halal consumer market (food and non-food such as financial services, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics) is estimated at USD two trillion, of which the food sector alone is worth USD 580 billion.

The Expo is being organised by Orange Fairs and Events of Dubai and EXPAM of Malaysia. Approved by the Dubai Department of Economic Development, the event is held under the aegis and support of various international chambers of commerce, government agencies and Halal organisations from around the world.
