MALAYSIA: One-stop Halal food destination

This holy month of Ramadan, why not break your fast with family and friends at the Grand BlueWave Hotel Shah Alam?

Touted as a “one-stop halal food-iftar destination”, the hotel was awarded the Universal Crescent Standard Center in the five-star hotel category.

Diners have the option to choose from 250 halal dishes ranging from traditional, international, Chinese to Japanese cuisine.

Some of the highlights include Tabbouleh, Hummus bi Taheeni, Lemon Couscous with Chicken and Bell Pepper, Ketam Goreng Berlada Rampai Sari, Sanma Shioyaki, Stir-fried Assorted Mushrooms with Beancurd Sauce, Ebi Furai, Chicken A la King and Steamed Snapper Fillet and Lemonade with Saffron Fennel Broth.

For soups, there are the Gear Box Soup and hot-and-sour Szechuan Soup.

Stuffed Whole Lamb Kebbeh with Kabees El Qarnabeet and Moroccan Oozy Rice is the signature dish while other highlights include Daging Rendang Penanggah, Agehan Sukiyaki, Nasi Kuning Diraja and Deep Fried Whole Red Snapper.

At the dessert corner, you can find bread-and-butter pudding with vanilla sauce, an assortment of Malay kuih, cakes, macaroons and tarts.

Beverages include Sarsi Selasih, sugarcane juice, soy milk, mango juice, coffee and tea.

The Ramadan buffet promotion takes place daily from 7pm onwards and will run until Aug 7. Diners can choose either the Al-Kareem package or the Al-Mubarak package.

The Al-Kareem Package will be served at the hotel’s new restaurant Royal Songket, which is situated on the ground floor, where diners can dine in a contemporary setting.

It is priced at RM108++ per adult and RM60++ for senior citizens (60 and above) and children (four to 11 years old). On weekends and public holidays, the package costs more.

For those who prefer dining kenduri-style, the Al-Mubarak package, which is held at the Rebana Hall, is priced at RM89++ for adults and RM50++ for senior citizens (60 and above) and children (four to 11 years old). It costs more on weekends and public holidays.

There will be a recitation of the Quran and Maghrib prayers at the hotel’s Musolla.

During the holy month, the hotel will also have a Bubur Lambuk Barakah charity event and “Nur Kasih Ramadan”, an event for orphans and tahfiz students.
